Jo Churchill selected for Bury St Edmunds

Jo Churchill, Conservative PPC for Bury St EdmundsJo Churchill was last night selected as the Conservative candidate for the very safe seat (12,380 majority) of Bury St Edmunds, which will be vacated by incumbent MP David Ruffley at the next election. According to Wikipedia, the seat has been Conservative since 1880, although Labour came within 368 votes of capturing it in 1997. She is set to become only the second woman MP in Suffolk history after Therese Coffey was elected in 2010.

With a First class degree in Business and Occupational Psychology, Johanna Churchill has been the finance director of a scaffolding company in Lincolnshire since 1998, and was elected to Lincolnshire County Council to represent the Grantham and Barrowby ward in May 2013. She is also an active campaigner with Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
